Charecter Sheet

Name: Doremi Shimizu (瞳麗美 清水) (Doh-Ray-Me She-Me-Zu) Aka. Demi Deningrad Aka. Yunnä IshiAge: 35Race: RaenGender: Intersex (Appears Female) (Represented in Male Dimorphism in height, and Black eye sclera.)Height: 6'0"Physical Description: She is very tall compared to other Au'ri women and has a full-body yakuza-style tattoo featuring koi fish and jellyfish, along with a scar, on her ankle where another tattoo used to be. Her hair is dark black with a streak of aquamarine running through it. Her skin was sun-baked from working at Costa del Sol for a year. To anyone who meets her, her scales appear white, oddly a bit whiter than normal Raen. However, if they have visited the temple in good faith, they can see what Demi sees when she looks at herself, which is blue scales, horns, and a fishtail. Her eyes have also changed to a deep aquamarine, with a long slit, similar to those of a cat or a dragon's eye, and the whites of her eyes are black, similar to those of Male Xaela.Personality: She has more of a no nonsense attitude, and once she gets to know you becomes quite sassy and sarcastic while keeping her air of mystery about her. She often finds common ground through tarot cards or divination, primarily making her judgments based on intuition and feelings. While she is not happy, she is safe, and that feeling is evident on her face. She doesn't seem to smile much, but she appears to feel at ease.History: TLDR version. (See Story Page for more detailed Version.)Doremi ran away from home when she was 13 due to being considered an abomination for how she was born (though there is more to this story than meets the eye) , or at least that is what she has been led to believe. When she was swimming through the Ruby Sea away from Sui no Sato, she was nearly eaten by a shark. Only to be saved by a member of the Ejinn tribe who was fishing in the Ruby Sea. Her name was Dalai Ejinn. Doremi followed her back to the Steppe and lived with the Ejinn until she was 16, after being captured by slavers while fishing with Dalai.Upon reaching Kugane, it was not long before she was purchased by a prominent and dangerous clan leader, Takeda Renzō of the Kurotora-kai (The Black Tiger Society). Takeda prided himself on his collection, to which she now belonged, and she became an additional source of income for him in multiple ways, primarily through her artistic ability and homemaking skills, which he had encouraged her to develop, but there were other darker ways as well, secrets that only Doremi and the clan leaders truly know fully.Even the yakuza must put on a façade in front of the higher lords, and seeing as Doremi’s work has been noticed for its fine look and, more particularly, how it made them feel. Thus, the clan was commissioned to refurbish a temple in Shirogane and sent Doremi begrudgingly. Doremi, by contrast, undertook the task with enthusiasm, which she had not shown for some time. Upon completion, the Kami of the temple bestowed a gift on her, making her look as if an Au'ra combined with a mermaid. Although only she could see the changes in the rest of the world, she appeared as if she were a normal Raen... Unless they had been to the temple with Doremi present and paid respects. She escaped her captors with the help of a Namazu Ship and crew that she had befriended in the markets. Finally, at the age of 32, she took as much wealth as she could from the man who tormented her, taking the eye of the head Yojinbo (Bodyguard) of the clan in the process. If you ask her now, she will give you a fake name just in case he is still looking for her. Demi Deningrad is the Name she had chosen, a shortened nickname for herself that Dalai would sometimes call her, and the last name was the name of a city she had chosen from a fantasy book she was allowed to read.Once she arrived in Eorzea, she landed at Costa del Sol and made a deal with Gegeruju. She would build for him if he would allow her to stay hidden under his roof for a time. Nowadays, she is a little more confident and goes back and forth between Costa Del Sol, Limsa Lominsa, and her apartment in the Mists. However, all of that has started to change when she visited Kugane again, renewing the efforts of Kurotora-Kai to find and capture Doremi once more. Only time will tell if she can fend off her hunters or if she will ultimately fail and be dragged back to Kugane the hard way.

Hooks & Traits

Strengths:
- Feng Shui/Architecture: She has a keen eye for architectural elements and how to arrange a room to allow the Aether to flow naturally through it.
-Creative/Artistic/Musical: __As a concubine, she had little to do, so she focused on the arts. Knowing how to play the Biwa (lute) or Violin, and being skilled in painting or sewing.__-Fishing/Cooking: Having been a spearfisherman for the Ejinn tribe of the Steppe, she also learned how to cook them to an expert level.-Aquatic Traits: Her unseen tail, eyes, and waterbending give her an advantage in the water. Able to see better, move faster, and maintain depth underwater for up to 20 minutes at a time. She does not have gills and cannot live underwater permanently. As far as speed, approx. Twice to 3 times as fast as an average swimmer.-Keen eye/Tarot: One of the luxuries afforded to Doremi as an enslaved person was a tarot deck, which she would use to tell fortunes. It was also what gave her the courage to escape that fateful night. Likewise, sitting and watching silently for a large portion of her life allowed her to pick up on the subtle changes in emotion a person may be experiencing and to gain insight into their intentions.-Perseverance: She has been through a lot, broken and rebuilt by her own two hands. She has survived and will continue to do so despite the roadblocks in her way.-Way of the Spear: The Ejinn tribe taught her how to defend herself; however, she trained for only 2 years before she was captured and sold in Kugane. She would have been very rusty upon reaching Limsa, but she has now had another year of personal training under her belt. Moderate skill is not the first time she has held a spear, but her decision-making is lacking in a fight with little to no actual combat experience.-Aquatic-Flow: In layman's terms… water bending. She can move bodies of water through the air or manipulate currents underwater using the Aetherial flow gifted to her by whatever spirit or force it was that she encountered in the temple of Shirogane. She can move a wave with the equivalent force of a full-grown man pushing you back. She can float Spheres or tendrils of water to use as distractions or block slow-moving projectiles. It is not a sufficient source of power to cause major damage; likewise, it cannot block a sword or heavy object.Weaknesses:
-Do not touch me: With her earned freedom intact, she gets very offended when someone she does not trust touches her. She is not quick to trust most men for obvious reasons.
-Bad Gambler: __ While she didn't have money in Kugane, she was around gambling daily. She loves to gamble away her stolen money, and even though she loses nearly every hand she plays, she will always take you up on a bet.__-Hunted: Her former masters still demand her return or any information that might lead to her capture. His vengeful ambitions not only make her an easy blackmail target but also make her extremely paranoid of anyone brandishing clothing or weapons of Kugane origins.-Yakuza Origins: Her tattoos give away the fact that she was at least at one time yakuza, and she has a scar on her ankle where it looks as though the remnants of a tattoo remain. Unless you were deep in the underbelly of Kugane, you would not know this, but the Caln that she belonged to and still hunts her is known as Kurotora-Kai

Story Time

Dalai Ejinn saves Doremi(Age 13 year 1550)Our Adventure begins like all good stories do, in a place of relative tranquility. Immune to the wars and trials of the world above, Sui-no-sato was a place of unrivaled beauty, its pristine bubble of protection serving as both freedom and a prison for the exiled Au'ra that brandished a pale white scale pattern, unlike the blackened scales of their estranged brothers in the Steppe.“You are Raen Doremi. Our place is here; do not worry about the outside world. The waters protect us from those that cannot help but tear the surface apart with their incessant need for war.” The elder Raen looked down at his Black and Blue-haired teenage child with a cold stare and a disappointed scowl on his face.“I do not care, father!” Doremi stomped her foot in response. “I will never be accepted here… I want to be free of this prison...”“No more Doremi…” The man's hand was swift, and the strike was hard, knocking Doremi to the ground as she clutched her cheek. “I have had enough of this; I have arranged for you to serve at the castle… then you no longer have to worry what the children of the village think of you... and neither will I.”“You would have me further contained, further removed from your life… hidden from sight.. Like the abomination that they say I am...” she whispered under her breath before standing and running out the door. Her father reached out for a moment but ultimately did nothing to stop her. She sprinted for the exit as the children stopped playing on the stairs; Doremi didn’t stop for anyone and leaped through the bubble protection into the open water, not looking back. She did not know how long she had swum, but it didn't matter; she simply kept swimming, making her way to shore. She did not realize, though, that she had company; A large shark was tracking the young Raen as easy prey. She reached the surface of the water and waded a bit, looking longingly at the village of Onokoro. She wasn't sure what caused her to do so, but she looked backward and saw the fin of the beast protruding from the water's surface, headed straight for her. She panicked and dove quickly into the water, just narrowly dodging the shark's first strike. She tried to make her way to the beach, but it was still many yalms away, and she knew she would not make it while avoiding the shark.

She would not resign herself to her fate and just tried to keep swimming. Just as the predator closed in on her like a bullet, something quickly darted through the waters, and suddenly, the ocean around her was stained red. Then she felt herself being dragged by someone much faster than her in the water. It was a blue-skinned Xaela with black scales, webbed fingers, and a spear in hand. She did not look towards the girl and simply kept swimming until they reached shore. She was not very gentle with the teenager, dropping her onto the beach as she caught her breath and headed towards a pile of supplies and what looked like a net full of fish.Doremi caught her breath as well and looked up at the woman on the beach with a curious gaze, unable to muster words of thanks, as a feeling of shame filled her mind, thinking how weak she was, that she could not last even a day without needing protection. The Xaela woman spoke, “Child.. You wish to become chum for the sharks, yes?” The way she spoke was brutish and matter-of-fact, “Well?” She looked at the child as if she were a disappointed mother. She stood up, walking to the teen and grabbing her by the chin, “The ruby sea gives life and takes it away just as quickly.. And yet this one cannot even muster words of thanks.” The woman was clearly upset by being forced into a fight with a shark when she did not need to be.“Th.. thank you..” Doremi said softly, looking down at the sand as she clenched her fist in frustration.“Ahh, the child can speak. Good…” She got up and returned to her things to pick up a large shawl to dry herself off with. “Tell me then, where is home so that I can whisk you there safely and be back to my job hopefully before sundown. Sui-no-sato correct? Come, child. I do not have time for this interruption.”“That place is dead to me…” she grimaced and looked up to the woman with a passionate look on her face, “Do not make me go back there… I..I can't.” Doremi pleaded with the Xaela woman. The tribal woman’s demeanor changed entirely at that moment, as she sympathized with the young Raen, but she did not say anything to soothe the child. “The light-scale does not want to go back then? But she has nowhere to go… and she will clearly not survive alone...” The woman sighed and rolled her eyes before asking herself with a shrug and a chuckle, “What am I to do with you then..?”“I.. I don't know.. I won’t burden you…” Doremi stood up and rubbed her shoulder, her kimono still damp from the ocean water. “I.. I will just go...”“No, you won't, child. I still have more work to do. You will stay here and protect my bounty. You have a debt to pay…” She tossed her shawl to Doremi and pointed to her stuff on the beach before walking back into the water with her fishing spear in hand.Doremi simply nodded and walked over to the pile of goods and supplies, sat down, and wrapped the shawl around her to warm up and dry off. As the dark-skinned woman descended into the waves, leaving the Raen to sit alone with her thoughts in relative safety, the open sea.The dark-skinned woman made several trips to and from the sea to her net, where she deposited fish that she had run through with her spear. Doremi found herself in awe of the women's endurance, and finally, when she made her last trip, she said, “Last catch for the day, first we have lunch, then we make way back to my village.”“Yo.. your village?” She nodded sheepishly, unsure of where life may take her next.Doremi learns the way of the spear (Age 14)It had been a year living in the Steppe, and she was finally starting to get used to the Xaela way of doing things. Everything here was so much different that she finally felt free, looking out over the expansive grasslands in her traditional hempen chest wrap and feathered skirt. Dalai Ejinn approached slowly and sat next to Doremi; she didn't really respond, just continued looking out towards the sunset.Dalai chuckled and nudged Doremi, “So you will not ask then?”Doremi turned her head to face her friend, “Why do I need to ask if I know the answer already?” She turned back, putting her chin on her knees as she did so.“The clan leaders have spoken; Doremi Shimizu will begin training with the spear at first light,” Dalai said confidently with a smirk, waiting for the child's reaction.Doremi turned quickly towards her mentor, “Really?!” She shot up and started running around in circles, picking up her stick, which she was using as a makeshift spear, and practicing immediately. Dalai, meanwhile, just looked down the hill at her unexpected charge like a proud mother.Doremi goes to Kugane the hard way (Age 17)After successfully taking the fast way to the Ruby Sea via the One River, Dalai and Doremi were catching good hauls below the waves and were ready to start bringing them into shore when Dalai saw it. “There is a boat here. Be cautious… Doremi…”“Should we wait it out?” Doremi asked nervously.“And if they do not leave? Come.. if we wait, we are food for the sharks…” Dalai replied, then started swimming back to shore. The ship was berthed nearly one hundred yalms from where they had set their supplies when they started fishing. As they approached the shore, they focused on the boat, seeing no signs of people aboard.“Quickly, now grab the pack. We are going back to the steppe now...” Dalai said, rushing over to their things to collect them.As they finished collecting their things and turned to head towards the river delta. A man's voice startled them, “And.. where do you think you are going, ladies…”Dalai turned her head and said, “Doremi… run.”Doremi took off into a sprint, dropping the supplies to save her spear. She bolted as fast as she could. But when she noticed Dalai was not with her, she turned back and saw her fighting the group of men who were ready to overpower her. “Dalai!?!” She screamed, which the men took as their moment to move in on her.Doremi started back towards them to help when she was hit over the top of the head. And fell forward into the sand. When she awoke, she was aboard the ship with no signs of Dalai. She was chained inside a small cage, and there were other girls of her age around her in various states of mangled or unconscious. From the above deck, she could hear one of the crew members say, “Ruby tide all paid up… next stop Kugane…” Several other men cheered at the prospect of their big payday.

Kruotora-Kai (Age 18-28)This time period is shrouded in history and exists only in the memories of Doremi and clan members for now. What is known during this time period is that she was bought and paid for by the Oyabun (clan leader) Takeda Renzo. The Brutal Clan leader of the Kurotora-Kai (Black tiger society), an outcast Dotharl who had risen through the ranks on the backs of his ambition and his charismatic wife, Lady Shiori. What is certain is that no one within the clan’s ranks has clean hands.Something that she is not afraid to speak of, however, is learning the way of Tarot from her Okami. A nine-tailed Kitsune bound to the clan for reasons unknown to Doremi. She was thankful for the interactions that were not hostile towards her, and soon divination became a core part of her being. The full-body tattoo that Doremi now bears began as a mark of ownership. The Kurotora-kai etched the first strokes of koi across her skin, binding her beauty to their symbol of wealth and power. What they intended as a cage of ink became, over the years, a canvas of defiance. After her escape, Doremi herself sought out wandering artists in Eorzea, directing them to finish what had been forced upon her. She added the flowing jellyfish, symbols of drift and survival in strange currents, and reshaped the koi into talismans of transformation. What was once their claim upon her body became her own living story, etched in pain, reclaimed in freedom. The Hidden Temple of Shirogane (Age 29)On the outskirts of Shirogane, a distant, misty mountaintop was home to an old temple. Run down for the ages, it was commissioned for refurbishment by the lord of Kugane. By this time, most of Kugane had been familiarized with her work and recommended her as the one to lead the project. While her owner was not happy that she would be away from his estate for so long, he sent men to guard her at all times while the work was being done. Upon completion, she was extremely proud of her work, running her hands along the tatami mat floor and staring down at the Koi fish below the elevated platform. The guards were outside and could not see what was about to happen; as she stared into the reflection, she saw a face staring back at her, but it wasn't hers. Her horns were now blue, and she freaked out at first, backing away from the water.Looking at her arms, she saw the blue scales that were once white. She screamed when she saw that her tail had now become that of a fish and had sprouted fins. The guards rushed in to find Raen freaking out for seemingly no reason and looked at each other, confused, before asking. “What.. woman..? Why are you screaming?”Puzzled and shaken to her core, “You don't… You don't see it?” She swallowed her throat and started to calm down a little. She began to realize that they did not see what she saw and clambered back over to the edge of the platform, looking at her reflection again, but this time seeing her usual self again. Then, looking back at her arm, she still saw the blue scales, and when she looked at her reflection again, it was still normal. “Curious…”“Time to let the Oyabun know she has finally gone mad…”

The day she escaped (age 32)She has now lived in the city for so long under the thumb of her masters. However, she now had a relatively good life compared to what she had been given upon arrival. Perhaps she was too old now, or maybe she was just too useful. Despite being owned by the Clan, she was treated with a life far better than most could say in Kugane, provided she followed the rules. In exchange, Doremi would craft for him beautifully extravagant works of art and arrange his lavish home to be the most beautiful in the city.“Ironic... isn't it... little fish...” Lady Shirori spoke coldly to her, “You fled a life of rules only to be gifted with more than you can count.” The Lady loved to torment her during her stay, perhaps out of jealousy. Takeda, however, would rent Doremi out to his partners in crime so that they could also create for them. This newfound freedom afforded her many new opportunities, for instance, exploring the city's layout, and, most importantly, making a deal with a Namazu trader.Tonight, she would leave the city no matter what, be it in a coffin or on this ship. She made a playful act to get her master's attention and drop Takeda’s guard. Getting him as Intoxicated as she could while only drinking water herself until he was finally passed out.She made her move; she had memorized everything, including every creek and noise it made when she moved. She first went to his vault, located behind a painting, and opened the door. She stuffed everything she could fit into her satchel and made her way to the ports. The only thing now that stood in her way was the Yojinbo, as the clan was out for the evening on business. It was a struggle, but she ultimately broke free, taking the Kurotora-No-Kiba’s(Fang of the Black tiger) eye in the process.By the time she arrived, the bells were already ringing, and the guards were starting to rush through the streets. “You have money for Tatsuki, yes? Yes?” The Namazu said to the woman as she approached.“Yes.. Yes… Now, keep your voice down… And get me out of here now… if we want our heads still on our shoulders by sunrise.” The cloaked woman spoke in a hushed voice, handing him a small satchel that was pretty heavy. The panicked Namazu rushed her aboard, tapping the hull of the ship. “Make way! Make way! Now Now.. Yes, Yes.”

Landing in Eorzea (Age 32)Though she had fled the Oyabun’s grasp, Doremi could never quite shake the sense that Tsukihana’s influence lingered. It was the Kitsune who had placed the cards in her hands, whispering of threads and omens, who had shown her how ritual could bind and unbind. Even now, years later, Doremi sometimes feels her mentor’s presence when she reads the tarot. A voice, faint as incense smoke, guiding her hand toward a card she dreads to see. Was Tsukihana’s gift one of love, or had the Nine-Tailed Witch set her on a path that still served the Kurotora-kai’s unseen designs? The thought haunts her whenever the Moon card turns. She knew her masters had contacts in Eorzea and did not want to land in a major city's port, so the Namazu dropped her off at Costa Del Sol to meet the most delightful Lalafell... said no one.“Gegeruju, it is a pleasure to meet you, sir.” Doremi gave a formal eastern bow to her new host.“Ahh, yes… You are the new dancer, aren't you? A bit old, aren't you? No matter, you are beautiful,” he clapped, not even attempting to get up from his chair.“No, I’m…” she stammered before being cut off again.“The new cook? Great, I am starving…” he said, taking another sip of his cocktail.“N... N...no..” she struggled to speak in the newer language to her and in the face of this man's abhorrent behavior.“Well, what CAN you do?!” he said, seemingly annoyed.“In Kugane... they had me design the lord's houses and paint for them…” she finally got out of her mouth.“Ahh, wonderful. I had wondered when the artisan would arrive. Go see Dyrstweitz; he'll get you the supplies and hands you require...” The Lalafel finally seemed to have a bit of manners when he asked, only to ruin it by saying, “Now get out of my face… You are blocking the view.”Doremi paused briefly, thinking back to her past life. She could not use her real name lest she be found out. She spat out the first name that she could think of, “Demi Deningrad.” Her mentor used to call her by the nickname 'Demi', while the latter was the name of a city she read about in an Eorzean fantasy novels back in Kugane. As she was making her way towards where she was directed, the Namazu Tader caught up with her. "Tatsuki will stay in Cosa del Sol... Yes... Yes... It's not safe in Kugane right now, and Fish Lady needs Tastsuki's help." Stunned for a moment and slightly curious, 'Could he see her as she was?'

Life in Eorzea (Age 35 present day.)After working at Costa del Sol for a year, she has since moved on, feeling far more comfortable in her new world. She makes a living by decorating people's houses and crafting smaller items that she sells in the Lominsan markets. You can often find her back at Costa del Sol, where she started, and makes her bed either in Gegeruju's estate or her apartment in Limsa. She has since returned to Kugane for a visit to the temple, during which she helped clean up the beach. This allowed enough people to see her face that the clan took notice and resumed their hunt for Doremi. Kurotora thugs have even been spotted in Limsa, probing for answers for Doremi’s whereabouts. As for everyday life, Tatsuki, the ship's captain, and crew act as assistants to Doremi's work when needed. In exchange for more of her fortune, of course. Though the Namazu aboard seems oddly devoted to her. She also performs tarot readings, in addition to playing music for events and venues, to keep herself busy, rather than needing the money. Doing so has allowed her to establish herself as a housing designer for some of the more well-known and wealthy musicians, taking her feng-shui business to new heights through word of mouth alone. The “little fish” had become something far greater than her jailors ever intended, and it was that gift which gave her the strength to slip Kurotora-Kai’s net forever. At least that was her hope.

Out Of Charecter

In-game or Discord RP: I am primarily looking for in-game RP, but I can also do Discord RP for the right storylines.
Any Skill level: I can RP at any skill level and will typically play the matching game with you, straying on the longer side. The more detail you provide, the more detail I will return to you. On average, my forum-style posts are typically 2-3 paragraphs in length. However, I can certainly write longer posts for stories.
Romance rules: I am an old school role-player, and I have a great life outside of RP. I will always be your friend, but I will never be your IRL lover. Please do not put me through any unnecessary RP drama ever again. The only Drama I want is in character.
Housing Designer: Not just my OC is a housing designer, I am too. My Carrd Link will be a button below this content. It's a Work in progress, most pictures have not been uploaded... cause I'm lazy.Starters: Below are some types of RP starters that may help you come up with a way to RP with me. Although I am a very experienced Role-player, I can work with just about anything you give me. If I like you enough. ;)Please Ask for DiscordType of RP:Feng Shui Client
(Slice of Life)
You are a client looking to have your space remodeled or rearranged. You would have had to hear about my services somehow, possibly through Gegeruju from Costa del Sol or word of mouth in Limsa.
Hunted
(adventure, possible dark themes)
I am interested in a story where my previous captors hunt me. You could be a companion trying to protect me or the hunters. This RP may require us to discuss the name of the Organization and its ORigins. This RP may take some time to start if it requires Moderator approval for new organizations.
Kugane History Kurotora-Kai
(Heavy Dark theme)
I am currently expanding on the Yakuza Clan that once captured Doremi, specifically the Kurotora-Kai (Black Tiger Society). This one would probably require an out-of-character (OOC) discussion to do it right and ensure everyone is comfortable in this role-play. It means you are looking to be evil, and I am not afraid of what happens. Do not be squeamish; these are genuinely terrible people. Of course, there can also be nuance. In this storyline, I plan on creating many OC’s that will simply be made to die.
Steppe History
(Combat/ slice of Steppe life)
We can be in the Steppe. You would need to be an Xaela in this one, and it would focus more on Doremi’s spear training and acclimating to the Steppe culture.
Adventure
(Travel combat, possible Dark themes)
This story is open-ended, as it can begin in many different ways and follow numerous paths. I am open to ideas; the main reasons why Doremi would want to travel are for a rare supply, a Client, or if there were people in town that she needed to avoid for a while.
Hidden Temple of Shirogane
(Magical adventure combat, possible Dark themes)
Her large house is the temple I am referring to in her history. Doremi has a longing in the back of her head to return to the temple, even though it is hazardous for her to go to Kugane. One day, she will have to make the trip, though.
Builder for Hire
(Slice of Life)
Doremi has a large job on her hands, and her Namazu friends will not have enough manual labor to assist her. She will need someone with experience in carpentry and masonry. However, a simple, strong set of hands can also be helpful.
Have another Idea?
I'm all ears and open to nearly any RP prompts. I am not scared.
NotesI am not interested in romance without a story; it has to make sense if you want to be romantically involved with my OC.If you're interested in a Dark theme RP, DM FIRST so we can discuss it.I have begun to flesh out her captors, The Kurotora-Kai (Black tiger society) they are a yakuza clan from Kugane and if you are interested in playing a character from the clan you must message me first. If you have a question, do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for reading my Carrd.Eastern Bow
